Board & Committee Member:
Become a Board or Committee member in any of these ongoing areas: Church
and Community Contact, Finance, Fund Development, Long Range Planning,
Expansion, Abstinence, Fund Raising, Public Relations. Variable time
commitment. Training Encouraged.
Church Liaison:
Take our needs and flyers to your Church, make sure upcoming events are
listed in your Church paper and/or bulletin. Spread the ministry of
Compassion.
Layette and Material Goods
Ministry:
Help sort and/or wash donated items to the Center. Pack "Going Home"
bags and make extended layettes. Variable time or on call.
Merit Program:
Teach life skill classes to clients: Prenatal, Parenting, Finance,
Nutrition, etc. You set the time and the dates.
Office Assistant:
Familiar with computer, enters data for accounts receivable/payable,
thank you notes, keeps database current, helps with mailings, must be
familiar with normal office procedures (4 to 8 hours weekly commitment).
If you also wish to answer the phone, you must take the training.
Peer Counselor:
Do one-on-one crisis intervention and ongoing peer counseling: listen,
make referrals and follow-up contacts with clients, maintain accurate
and confidential files, attend bi-monthly in-service training. (4 hours
weekly commitment). Training required.
Prayer Ministry:
Join our prayer partners, receive our prayer calendar and notification
of our prayer meetings.
Public Relations:
Get advertising in newspapers, cable, radio, etc. Can be done from home;
needs only a few hours per year.
Receptionist:
Handle incoming calls, schedule appointments; do some phone peer
counseling; greet clients, carry out daily office opening/closing
procedures; some typing and office responsibilities (4 hours weekly)
Training required.
Church Opportunities:
Invite a speaker. Get to know all about the Ministries of Compassion.
Host a diaper drive or shower: simply and easy, we can give you ideas!
